No wedding is complete without elements of entertainment; it is essential to keep the day flowing and your guests occupied while you are perhaps having your photographs taken, changing outfits or individually greeting guests.
Entertainment encompasses everything from Photo Booths to DJs and Magicians to Harpists. It’s an ever-growing category as vendors come up with more and more innovative ideas to keep your guests entertained and add fun and interest to your wedding day.

The thought of a wedding DJ sometimes conjures the image of a person who arrives at the end of the wedding breakfast carrying a lot of black boxes from the back of his car into the venue ready to play “at” the guests for a few hours. The equipment is sometimes unsuitable for the venue, too big or too small, and the style of music is often inappropriate for the guests. The person the bride and bridegroom asked to entertain their guests turns out to be worse than an unwanted gate-crasher. The main reason the DJ has agreed to perform was to feed their own ego and furnish their pocket.

The DJ mentioned earlier, will probably say that all weddings are the same, Guy will tell you that every wedding is unique. It’s the DJ's role to tune into those differences and to provide the right soundtrack for the memories that are being made. Guy asks for some music suggestions before your party and is more than happy to receive requests during the evening. Many years of experience will help to ensure the music flows, there’s nothing nicer than hearing an audience “ooh” and “aah” as they recognise the next track and realise the party is moving up a gear. Guy will capture the moment and play the right music for the dancing. Also, as Guy always offers to set-up before the guests arrive, he will also be able to provide a lot more. Setting up early provides the client with peace of mind, it avoids disruption, it also means that there is a sound system available for background music in the afternoon. Guy also provides a radio microphone for speeches and, if you don’t have a Toastmaster, is happy to make announcements and MC your event. Once the equipment is set, where ever possible, the van will be moved away from view and Guy change into smart attire for the rest of the day.
Tuning in to the needs of the guests can be selecting a piece of rousing music for the entrance of the couple or building the music program to get everyone on the floor, but it can also be lending an extra cable to the band, discussing the running order with the photographer or helping behind the scenes. Guy has been at weddings in challenging locations, running an extra 30m extension lead for overt a crisis has occurred more than a couple of times in the past. On one occasion, at a marquee wedding on an unusually hot day, Guy drove his van to the local Tesco to buy a few crates of water for the thirsty guests! All part of the service.
